Individual Sponsorship Instructions:

To become a sponsor for Juan Diego follow these simple instructions:

  • Fill in the Pay Pal form
  • In the "Sponsorship Preferences"
    box please indicate the following:
    Name of the child you wish to
    sponsor
    Monthly dollar amount that you
    would like to sponsor for the child
  • Carrie's Heart will email you a
    monthly invoice for future
    payments

Meet Juan Diego...

Juan Diego is a fifteen year old boy who was born with a severe case of
spina bifida that was not surgically corrected at birth.  Juan Diego also has a
severe seizure disorder having multiple seizures daily.  Juan Diego is
nonverbal and responds to sensory stimulation.  Juan Diego is tube fed.  
Juan Diego lives with his mother, father and a new baby brother.  Juan
Diego's mother is his primary care giver and she does an exceptional job of
caring for him with the resources available to her.  Juan Diego's parents are
extremely creative in adapting equipment for Juan Diego.  Juan Diego
enjoys music and is greatly loved by his family.     
Juan Diegos's Needs
Immediate / Ongoing Needs:

Nutritional Supplement - Ensure (liquid or powder) or
Ensure with fiber, Pedialyte  
Tube Feeding Supplies - 50 cc syringes
Daily Seizure Medication
Diapers - Size 5/6
Wound Care Supplies:  Gauze bandages, non stick and
special gel type wound bandages, wound care creams
(barrier creams) & skin moisterizer
Flavored Mouth Swabs

Medical Care:  Medical evaluation of spinal protrusion &
wound care needs  
Future Needs:

Adapted Reclining Wheelchair
Mattress / Egg Crate with adaptations for spinal support
Positioning Equipment
Suctioning Machine
Adapted Bathing Mat (Need "Water Mattress" -similar to
a heavy duty pool float but it is filled with water)
Stimulation Activities: CD Player & Music, Lights etc.

Medical Issues:

Seizure Disorder- Ongoing managment & need for
